2012 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set
The 2012 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set will mark the fifth year that the United States Mint issued such a set. Included inside are proof quality examples of the 2012-dated strikes of the Presidential $1 Coin Program. The US Mint lists February 23, 2011 as the release date for this set which will sell for $18.95.
The Presidential $1 Coin Program debuted in 2007 and features obverse portraits of former Presidents of the United States. This program debuted in 2007 and sees four new strikes issued annually as part of it honoring the former Presidents in the order in which they served.
The 2012 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set honors the twenty-first through the twenty-fourth US Presidents who served the years from 1881 through 1897. Each coin of the set is encased inside a protective lens to help preserve their finish.
Coins of the set are struck to proof quality at the US Mint's facility in San Francisco. An 'S' mintmark on each coin of the set indicates they were struck at the San Francisco facility.
