2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set®

Beginning at Noon (Eastern) today, May 21, 2012, the United States Mint will start offering the 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® for sale to the public. Each set will be available for $27.95, plus the US Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order.

Commonly referred to as the "Mint Set," these annual offerings are one of the most popular products released by the US Mint. Included as part of the 2012 Mint Set are a total of twenty-eight coins.

Fourteen of the coins are struck to uncirculated quality at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia and placed in one durable folder. Fourteen of the coins are struck to uncirculated quality at the US Mint's facility in Denver and placed in a second folder.

The Philadelphia facility in and the Denver facility are typically responsible for striking the circulating coinage of the United States.

United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses that use more force than used on standard circulating coins. This typically produces a coin with a sharper, more detailed image.
