2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set (US Mint image)Marking the third numismatic release by the US Mint this year, the 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set™ was released today, January 17, 2012. The 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set follows the Quarters Silver Proof Set which launched one week earlier on January 10th.

Included in each 2012 Quarters Proof Set are the five America the Beautiful Quarters to be released by the US Mint in 2012. These five quarters represent El Yunque National Forest of Puerto Rico, Chaco Culture National Historical Park of New Mexico, Acadia National Park of Maine, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park of Hawaii and Denali National Park of Alaska.

The five strikes also mark the eleventh through the fifteenth of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program which debuted in 2010 and features five new strikes released annually as part of it. These strikes each represent a different site of national interest from around the United States and its territories.

All five coins of the set are struck to proof quality at the US Mint's facility in San Francisco from the standard clad composition of circulating quarters. The coins are then encased in a special protective lens to preserve their finish.

The 2012 Quarters Proof Set is available now from the US Mint for $14.95. Orders may be placed by calling 1-800-USA-MINT or by using the Mint's online store found at http://catalog.usmint.gov.
