2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set
|
The 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set includes five 90% silver coins struck with the sixth through the tenth designs of the US Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The set shows a release date of April 1, 2011 with a price of $41.95 per set. Originally, the Mint had planned to issue this set for $39.95 but was forced to increase the price owing to the performance of the silver market in the weeks leading up to the sets release. Combined, the five coins in the set consist of 0.904 ounces of the precious metal. The increased price allowed for more room between the set's intrinsic melt value and the price the Mint was charging for it. This set is the second such annual set from the Mint to contain strikes of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The first such set appeared the previous year and contained the debut strikes of the program. The following quarter-dollars in special collector proof condition are included in the set:
The obverse of each of these strikes contains John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington whereas the reverse contains the design emblematic of the selected site. Coins Specifications & Information
