The Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse coin honors the wife of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. A maximum of 40,000 of the Mary Lincoln coins will be struck across all product options to either proof or uncirculated condition. Bronze medal replicas of the coin will also be issued. Each coin is created from 1/2 ounce of .9999 fine 24-karat gold. Mary Lincoln is seen as a tragic figure when it comes to first spouses. Not only did she serve during one of the darkest times in American history, the American Civil War, but she also lost her husband who was assassinated as he sat right beside her during a theatrical performance.
