The 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set is the first set of the entire America the Beautiful program which debuted in 2010 and will run through 2021. The set is available on May 13, 2010 and is listed to sell for $14.95.

"United States Mint proof coins are extraordinarily brilliant, with sharp relief and a mirror-like background," the US Mint describes on the 2009 quarter proof set product page. "Their frosted, sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect.  Proof blanks are specially treated, polished and cleaned to ensure high quality strikes."

The Mint goes on to add that the "blanks are then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp relief.  The coins are then packaged in a protective lens to showcase and maintain their exceptional finish."

The obverse of all of the America the Beautiful strikes contains a version of John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington which first appeared on the quarter dollar in 1932. The reverses of the coins in the series showcase the beauty of the United States by honoring selected locations throughout the country.

This series of quarters not only follows the successful 50-State Quarters Program and its follow-up - the D.C. & US Territories Quarters, but it also is administered in almost the same way with five coins released annually until the program is completed.
