2009 DC & US Territories Quarters Silver Proof Set - Click to Enlarge The 2009 DC & US Territories Silver Quarters Proof Set includes six specially struck coins honoring the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories. The United States Mint issued the set on March 23, 2009, for the price of $29.95. Unlike the circulating varieties found in daily change, these coins are minted in 90% silver and 10% copper. All six quarters together include 0.868 ounces of silver. And that accounts for their extra cost -- the same non silver or clad quarters set is priced at $19.95. The following quarter-dollars in special collector proof condition are included in the set:

The six coins is one more than offered in the prior year 50 States Quarters® proof set, and the price tag for the 2009 set was shifted $4.00 higher as a result. While the previous series lasted 10 years, the 2009 quarters program is one year only.
