On August 13, 2009, the US Mint launched the third coin of the new cent series known as the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Professional Life Cent. It features a standing figure of Lincoln in front of the old state capitol building in Springfield, Il.

The ceremony led by US Mint Director Ed Moy was immediately followed by an coin exchange for those that were interested. The Mint also started offering two-roll sets of the Professional Life coins for sale on their website or via their phone ordering system that same day.

An estimated 152,000 two-roll sets sold in the first four days, but this was not enough to overcome the amazing initial 4-day sale of the second cent. The Formative Years Cent, which launched in May, sold over 200,000 in that timeframe.
